The other two bottles of the same year’s Jura yellow wine auctioned with it also sold for 89,100 US dollars (about 569,000 yuan) and 85,500 US dollars (about 546,000 yuan) respectively. These wines are the oldest wines on the market at present. Brewed by Pierre Wiezell, they have been preserved in the family wine cellar for more than 240 years. In 1994, under the evaluation of 24 professional judges, this wine got 9.4 points (out of 10 points). They think this wine has the taste of “walnut, spice, curry, cinnamon, vanilla and dried fruit”
The auction price of French Jura yellow rice wine reached a new high.
Bridget Fenau, who presided over the auction, said, “I didn’t expect these wines to fetch such a high price. The latest record is $66,600 (equivalent to about RMB 42.5) in 2011. Before the auction, the auction house gave a reference price of about $175-23,500 (equivalent to about RMB 1.12-150,000) per bottle of wine.
The Jura yellow wine in this auction is a traditional 870ml bottle, which is slightly larger than the standard bottle. The grapes used to brew this wine were harvested during the reign of Louis XVI. From a long history, this bottle of wine was brewed 15 years earlier than the French Revolution, when Napoleon was a child and the United States was still under British colonial rule.
According to the auction house, the buyer is Canadian. Fino said: “The winemaker applauded at the auction site. They are very happy and very moved. “
